In this note, the liquid-crystalline phase transitions of the model liquid crystal 8CB are discussed, with attention for the presence of the latent heat and the thermodynamic order of the phase transitions. Also, a comparison is made with a rate-dependency study using DSC.
The thermal storage capacity in phase change materials is expressed through the temperature-dependent enthalpy, which can be determined excellently by ASC. And in addition, high-resolution data on the rotator phase transitions is acquired.
The melting point of gallium is used as a reference point in thermometry. In this note, heat capacity and enthalpy around this melting transition are discussed, and the results are compared to high-quality literature DSC and step calorimeter data.
Aqueous solutions of lipid molecules are models for biological membranes. This note discusses the applicability of ASC, the effect of dilution and compares with microcalorimeter data.
In this note, ASC data for the melting of ice into water are compared with those a custom high-resolution DSC.
A full overview of ASC literature can be found on the overview page at the ATF website.
Here we provide a list of selected papers, presenting data and results obtained with the modern pASC calorimeters.
